ABOUT

"Fresh, natural and sings from the heart..."

"She sings with pure joy and love"

Paulina Butterfly is Korean-American and was born to an artistic family in San Francisco, CA.  Raised in a combination of the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Seoul, Korea, she moved to New York to pursue a creative life. Her musical training began in elementary school when she sang in her school's chorus at age 6 and in her 7th grade music class, she chose classical guitar with chords as her instrument. Growing up with pop music, musicals, sunshine and the Pacific Ocean gave her a bright and optimistic sensibility. She began painting in high school and later received a BA in History of Art at the University of California, Berkeley where she spent a year in France to study art and culture. At CUNY Hunter College in New York, she earned a BFA and MFA in Painting, while studying music on her own.

As a New York-based singer-songwriter and guitarist, her songs come from the lighter side of her personal experiences, mixing playful melodies, fun and poetic lyrics, acoustic rhythms and freestyle finger-picking. She’s been greatly influenced by the Beatles, John Lennon as a solo artist, Edith Piaf, The Everly Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, John Denver, The Carpenters, Whitney Houston, Cyndi Lauper, Hollywood and Broadway musicals, as well as Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, who she covers with glee.

Paulina is a NY-based lightworker who believes in the power of the arts and spirituality to uplift the world. She is committed to high-vibrational living, centeredness and balance, unconditional happiness/peace/joy that comes from being plugged into Source, living in the NOW, intuitive wisdom, authenticity, meditation, prayer and manifestation, trees and our natural habitat, creative play, lightness of being, and the bigger picture.
